Invention-to-Patent Service (ITPS)

Discover invention opportunities within your operations.

Everyday operational challenges can reveal opportunities for technical invention. ITPS helps organizations systematically investigate these challenges, identify potentially patentable concepts and develop selected ideas through technical assessment, preliminary prior-art research, feasibility investigation and engineering documentation.

Clarify the problem
before developing the idea

An idea is difficult to evaluate while its purpose, operating conditions or technical mechanism remain unclear. The useful questions are what the concept must achieve, how it could work and which uncertainties need attention.

The aim is to give a potential invention a coherent technical description and a considered basis for deciding what to investigate next.

Challenge discovery and concept development

Structured discussions and discovery questionnaires can examine the underlying technical or organizational challenge. Systematic concept generation, evaluation and comparison can help refine possible ways to address it.

Preliminary research and feasibility

Preliminary prior-art research can identify relevant existing disclosures, with findings recorded in a report. Technical assessment can examine the proposed mechanism, engineering constraints and uncertainties. These investigations inform the concept; they do not establish a legal conclusion about patentability.

Engineering documentation

Selected concepts can be developed into engineering descriptions, specifications and diagrams. The agreed scope may include organizing technical inputs for patent drafting and professional review.

From investigation
to documented concept

  1. Assess the challenge
  2. Investigate feasibility
  3. Document the concept

The agreed scope may connect challenge definition, concept development, preliminary research, feasibility assessment and documentation. Findings can prompt a return to earlier questions before a concept is developed further.

The activities and supporting technical documentation are agreed for each engagement, according to the idea’s maturity and the questions that need investigation.

Technical Invention Development
& Patent Professional Support

ITPS provides technical invention development and supporting documentation. Transforma can help clients identify and engage independent, appropriately qualified patent attorney firms or patent professionals for professional prior-art searches, patent application and legal claims drafting, filing and, where separately agreed and appropriate, prosecution.

Transforma may coordinate technical communication by providing invention documentation, explaining concepts and answering engineering questions during application preparation.

Independent professionals remain responsible for their legal and regulated services. Transforma does not provide legal patentability opinions or act as a regulated filing or prosecution representative. Preliminary research is not exhaustive clearance or a legal opinion; patentability or a patent grant is not guaranteed.
